In general, the best piece to blockade a pawn like this is a knight since it controls squares even beyond the pawn and in every direction overall. A big point with a blockading piece is that a bishop or a knight are worth three points, while the queen is worth nine, so essentially nine points are tied down to preventing the pawn from queening.
